DISTRICT INDUSTRIES CENTRE: SUNDARGARH

Objectives:

The District Industries Centre, Sundargarh is functioning within the area of Sundargarh Sub-Division consisting of 09 Blocks & 02 Municipalities at Sundargarh with effect from 1st April 1983 under the direct control and supervision of Director of Industries, Odisha, Cuttack. The main objective of this office is to look after promotion of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Handicrafts & Cottage Industries Sector & implementation of Self Employment programme like Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

Activities:

    1. Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Sector:
      • To identify prospective Entrepreneur & viable projects for setting up of ndustry.
      • Identify and make demand survey on the available resource of the District and plan for promotion of viable industries in the area.
      • To grant EIN registration & Production Certificate to the entrepreneurs.
      • To prepare viable and feasible project reports.
      • To strengthen the guidance cell to solve the problem of the entrepreneurs.
      • To maintain up to date data on MSME sector.
      • To recommend financial proposals to Odisha State Financial Corporation / Financial Institutions/ Banks etc.
      • To allot Govt.land /shed in Industrial Estates through Single Window Mechanism.
      • To recommend for power connection.
      • To arrange Entrepreneurs Development Training (EDP).
      • To arrange exhibition, fair and publicity and visit of industrialists to Trade Fairs and different Industrial Estates of other States.
      • To solve the problems of the industrial units at the district level through Shilpa Adalat.
      • To monitor the health of existing SSI units and the progress of those in the pipeline.
      • To recommend different incentives as per the industrial policy of the State Govt.
      • To provide necessary marketing assistance.
      • To monitor the implementation of the Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).
      • To assist banks on recovery through Certificate Court and direct recovery camps.
      • To promote ancillary & downstream industries.
    2. Handicraft & cottage Industries Sector:
      • To provide insurance cover to the handicraft artisans under ‘AMM Admi Bima
        Yojana.
      • To rehabilitate handicraft artisans under Shilpi Unnati Yojana.
      • To promote craft village scheme among the identified handicraft artisans at their locality.
      • To promote Modernisation & Technical up-gradation of Handicraft Industries.
      • To Promote for MCM Training.
      • To provide Work shed -cum-Housing to handicraft artisans.
      • Distribution of Solar Lantern to Handicraft Artisans.
      • To provide exposure visit to artisans.

Organisational Structure:

The District Industries Centre, Sundargarh is headed by the General Manager, who is a Senior Class- I Officer under which Manager/DCIO in the rank of Jr.Class – I , Asst.Manager in the rank of Class- II and Industries Promotion Officer ( Class-III) at Block level are working and assisting in different promotional activities i.e. MSME Sector, Handicraft Sector, Cottage & Village Industries Sector & Coop.Societies (Ind.) Sector.

All Industries Promotion Officers are in charge of different Sections at DIC headquarters and additional charges of different blocks to look after PMEGP & PSI units, MSME sector, Handicraft Sector, Indl.Coop. Societies respectively. Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board, Bhubaneswar has deployed one KVI Supervisor at DIC Sundargarh to look after KVI Sector & Indl.Coop Societies. The General Manager, DIC Sundargarh is Drawing & Disbursing Officer and Establishment Officer and assisted by one Accountant, one Senior Clerk, one Stenographer, one Junior Clerk and 06 nos. of Class- IV staff.
